Here’s a summary of the marketing services I offer to authors who are self-publishing their work.

Packages are negotiable based on individual author needs, and this list should be used as a guide only. Please contact me for more information and to discuss your marketing requirements.

Basic marketing is for authors who already have established social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter etc with good contacts and an idea of what to do to self promote. This is for the author who wants someone to bounce some ideas off and get a formalised plan for them to follow going forward, but who is happy to do the leg work themselves.

What you get:

  • Face-to-face consultation and discussion about your book, your target audience, what you’ve got in mind for marketing etc.
  • Assessment of any existing social media including suggestions of how to get the most out of your author brand.
  • A brief marketing strategy that will include a timeline that the author can follow.

Approximately 5-8 hours work $250

Social media is for authors who don’t already have social media accounts( or who have them and don’t know what to do with them) but who want to leverage these free platforms as their main form of marketing. 

What you get:

  •  Face-to-face consultation and discussion about your book, your target audience, what you’ve got in mind for marketing etc.
  •  Assessment of any existing social media including suggestions of how to get the most out of your author brand. This will include a discussion about using social media for paid advertising.
  • Set up and training on up to three social media platforms, including Goodreads
  • Administration of social media for a set period of time, negotiated with the author and based on their needs.
  •  A brief marketing strategy that will include a timeline that the author can follow.

Approximately 20 hours work $800 (this is also assuming that this author will need significant assistance with social media)

 Social media +

Includes everything from package 2, plus:

  • A more in-depth marketing strategy that includes recommendations
  • Goodreads marketing (emails sent to potential reviewers, running of book give away competition)
  •  A press release – this does include sending it out, but I’ll need contacts
  • Distribution of review copies and handling of publicity enquiries
  • Organising any publicity events

Approximately 40 hours work, $1800

In addition:

  • I can add in set-up, advice and administration on additional social media platforms at the discounted rate of $50 an hour
  • Any paid advertising (Google adwords, Facebook, Goodreads) will be the author’s responsibility to pay, but am happy to either help the author set up or completely control and monitor.
  • Any graphic design or coding work will be completed by a designer at the additional cost of $60 an hour
  • Any printed materials will incur an additional cost and will be the author’s responsibility to pay – quote will come directly from the printer
  • If the work takes more hours than quoted in the package, then there will be an additional chart of $50 an hour (as a general rule, if you’ve gone three hours over the package, I’ll start charging. But I’ll let the author know when that is approaching).
  • Any publicity events that incur costs will be passed along to the author (such as drinks, venue hire, advertising).
